ELIZABETH D. CATES
Elizabeth D. Cates is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate, a National Certified Counselor, Certified Grief Counseling Specialist, and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional under the supervision of Jessica Gibbe-Fernandez, Ph.D., L.M.F.T. She has earned a Master of Science degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Capella University, a Master of Business Administration degree from Webster University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from Bowie State University. Currently, Elizabeth is pursuing a doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Supervision from Capella University.
In 2017, Elizabeth was inducted into the counseling honor society, Chi Sigma Iota, the Chi Upsilon Chi Chapter. She is a Family TEAM Leader and member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, a member of the Alabama Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, and a member of the Association for Play Therapy.
Elizabeth works with individuals, couples, families, adolescences, and children to address a wide range of issues, including trauma, substance use, and grief. Her clinical interests include marriage and couples therapy, healthy relationships, family therapy, and homeschool families.
