Margarita Tartakovsky, M.S. added a list that is simple and seems to have positive results by some clients in our practice. She noted that individuals that deal with ADHD have trouble making decisions since they “get distracted by both external cues (such as background noise) and internal cues (such as thoughts and feelings).” This results in individuals getting distracted, making mistakes and doubting themselves which may cause self-esteem issues as well.

She identified some tips in making decisions that can help:

  1.  Write it down.
  2. List the pros and cons.
  3. Focus on your values.
  4. Make a gut decision.
  5. Give yourself a deadline.
  6. Record good decisions.
  7. Change your perspective.
  8. Talk to someone you trust.

She added at the end, “Because decision-making can be difficult, having tools you can turn to can make a big difference. Find what works best for you.”. If you need extra help, let The Samaritan counseling Center guide you. We have the appropriate assessment tools to identify the diagnosis and of course therapy.
