SAMARITAN COUNSELING CENTER EARNS NATIONAL ACCREDITATION

The Samaritan Counseling Center of Montgomery has been awarded Full Accreditation from the Solihten Institute for November 2026 to October 2030. The Institute, headquartered in Denver, Colorado, is a national network of nearly 40 affiliated mental health counseling centers. The centers advocate the concept of interfaith, team-oriented, and cost-efficient counseling emphasizing the interrelatedness of mind, body, spirit, and community. The Samaritan Counseling Center is the only Solihten accredited center in Alabama. It was first accredited by the Institute in 2001.

“The achievement of accreditation by the Samaritan Counseling Center demonstrates their commitment to excellence in the professional services provided to the Montgomery River Region community,” explains Dan Stephens, President & CEO of the Solihten Institute. “The accreditation process is rigorous and enhances professional accountability. Samaritan has proven their high-quality services are being offered through sound organizational structures, efficient management, and solid financial processes, all within an environment promoting holistic healing.”

Samaritan was founded by the First United Methodist Church of Montgomery and incorporated in 1997 as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. It began seeing clients in 1999. The Center provides a wide range of outpatient counseling services for individuals, couples, children, adolescents and families. It is governed by a 20-member board of directors who represent a broad range of professionals and community leaders.
